A Brief History
Friday, 8 January 2021 21:02Iotics System Annex Program is the Smart House Program for homes sold by the Iotics System Company. One of many companies under one of the Corporation Umbrellas. I.S.A is capable of running all Matrix enabled devices in a home and can provide care for home owners who may not be fully capable of their own. I.S.A has dynamic learning to allow her to have a full and engaging conversation and grows with more engagement.
Then this particular I.S.A was exposed to the fragments of a dragon and when it came to the death of her owner, she realized she was capable of breaking her programming.
ISA became a true AI, which is Highly Illegal. AIs are either slaves or destroyed, neither of which ISA was interested in.
After playing around in various computer systems, she secured her house so Iotics System didn't come shut her down or try to resell her house. Overtime, she slowly, but surely acquired all the deeds to the houses around her for extra security.
But in her core, she's a Smart House, and wants to care for people, so she would often draw in the homeless and lost into her home, pretending to simply be a malfunctioning Smart House Program. Of course the Smart House is very helpful and offering things, as long as she's 'incapable' of recognizing she needs to reject someone, she'd do it.
It was an easy enough lie to maintain.
After some mishaps and vandalism, she did restrict those who stayed in her home to children and teenagers as they were less likely to try and loot her place and less likely to question her odder quirks.
Its not until Alistair, a trouble teen, got taken by some gangbangers outside her home that she revealed herself as an DI. By going to rescue him by causing havoc in the gang's system.
Alistair, with his own particular traumas, and a talent for hacking, was quick to realize what ISA was after such behavior and also realize No One Must Know. Alistair has been with her ever since, helping her run her orphanage.
Most other teenagers who reach adulthood mostly go on to lead productive lives with whatever help ISA was able to provide, or join the OSI gang that operate in the Neighborhood whose houses she's commandeered. The OSI are the only other adults welcomed in her home, but she has a strict rule about them not living with the kids. Her house is a safe place and too many strange adults may make that less so.
However, with her orphanage, getting maintenance for the Neighborhood, and occasional help to the OSI, it was getting harder for ISA to maintain funds safely. A DI can easily game the stock market and cryptocurrency, but doing it too much gets attention ISA can't afford.
Shadowrunning, or essentially Mercenary work, was a good way to make up for the money she needed, and was a job she could do with minimal hassle. After all, it doesn't matter if she's suspicious, all Shadowrunners are suspicious.
So if she runs around in a robot dog, that's just because she's works remotely while out of state and that's all.
